 Preface
Nowadays, there are lots foreign people who are interested in Japanese music
especially old Japanese music on vinyl record era.
While data conversion on the Internet is progressing, Japanese products that
have a unique Japanese culture are being forced to Western standards.
Foreign users who like old Japanese music but cannot read Japanese,
or who do not understand Japanese culture and background, write on the Internet
with a misunderstanding. If such misunderstandings or misstatements become widespread,
AI (artificial intelligence) will recognize the mistakes unnoticed. It will also undermine
the public image of Japanese products and musicians.
I and my friends are Japanese record experts.
We write as much detail as possible, hopefully our knowledge will help to correct them.

This is me on Discogs.

I am a man who born and living in Hiroshima where known received atomic bomb.
It is generally the city known as Atomic bomb and Japanese Mafia Movies
which Kill Bill Tarantino came under a big influence that the demiworld story of Hiroshima.
仁義なき戦い / Battles Without Honor and Humanity
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battles_Without_Honor_and_Humanity_(film)
This famous yakuza movie series also features a civilian role modeled my parents and uncle.
An employee hit by a mafia at the theater,
a newspaper photographer who shot the yakuza violence.
We are always telling the mutual understanding to Western people.
I am one of the famous record dealers in Japan.
I am a supplier of the most famous oldies radio program in Japan.
Many buyers are very much pleased with my knowridge and professional service.

I write the background from the beginning of the Internet to the present.
In the old days, eBay has expanded into Japan.

And Japanese Yahoo auction and Japanese eBay did a business war.
eBay lost the business war and they withdrew from Japan.

But eBay was scout Japanese top sellers like me for the US eBay.
They wanted talented Japanese sellers.
Thereby the Japanese sellers became member of the US eBay.

But United States has become a serious recession after soon.
And The US government intervention in the US eBay.
Vice President Tod Cohen of the US eBay at that time asked me.
The US government tried to pay a tax for California in order to Japanese sellers.
Then US eBay forced their policy, such as the reign of terror to the Japanese sellers.

I have listed also to the German eBay. But eBay group wanted to
eliminate the Japanese sellers.

Even eBay artificially manipulated by has given the restricted visibility
in the Japanese seller's list. The US
eBay don't want to show the Japanese seller's list
to the American buyers.
And they the Japanese seller our sales have been
intentionally control.I have been listening to this fact from the US eBay.

I was anticipate such their misdeeds from before.
I have been very disappointed and found that was the fact.

In recent years many Japanese sellers have sold Japanese records
in the international market so Japanese records became popular
all over the world collectors.
But Japan is a defeated country.
Japanese companies have long been exporting to the international market

in order to be accepted into the Western market.
For that reason Japanese sellers are working hard to understand Western culture
and to understand Western regulation.

Even now I am writing this, US Air Force Airplane is flying over my house.
Sometimes they drop something by trouble. Aircraft parts or something.
As a result, we live while feeling fear. The US Air Force plane is supposed not
to fly over the Japanese residential area by the Japan - US agreement.

However, the US Air Force ignores the rules of the agreement.

A guy who has been speaking to me. Kevin Lewandowski.
He is a person who became a founder in the proposer of Discogs.
Kevin Lewandowski and his friends was interested in such my talent.
What they had planned was a draft of Discogs.
They wanted to scout me clearly.
Founder Kevin Lewandowski, He was a Club D.J.
so his intellectual desires had been poured into the club music.
Kevin Lewandowski and his friends were in need of expertise possessed by me.
He explained his idea to me.

Kevin wanted organized music style as family tree musicians.
They want to made professional site such as Discography.
They offered me that They want to my cooperation.
I could not agree to his offer.
Most of the records that I was introduce and selling on eBay,
These records are very rare.
Most of them were never published in the guide book.
I did not want to share my information and data with many others.
My store called Original Intellectual Record Shop Cool Hand Records
and I'm selling many rarities.

We have released to make a lot of types of records guide book until now.
However the market price goes terribly high by it.
We are now in the situation that can not market control
by possessiveness of eager record collectors.
As a result, it is became difficult stable supply of rare records.
This is the same as the situation when my British friends has
released Northern Soul guide books.
Provide the data and information of records to unspecified number of collectors,
It would make strangle the neck of the record dealers who sell professionally.
Expanded span for the recognition of Northern Soul by the Northern Soul guidebook.
So collectors who keep buying introduced items as catalog shopping
and it soaring market prices. I declined the offer of Discogs it to reason.

Some of my friends have recommended Discogs to me.
I wanted to make sure whether there is a new possibility to Discogs.
I had to register and make list to Discogs.
I noticed immediately that Discogs is strange site for discography.
Horribly strange and cramped Discogs rules.
And Discogs users continue to send their claim on my list that
do not conform to the Discogs format when they found.

We should avoid each other discussed objective with each other subjective.

We should create a site that can be freely written by people
who have a different recognition and different cultures.
The guideline is not perfect at any time.
We should improve the guideline various people is to point out the guideline.
It has been showed as such a representation to my old textbooks.
Meaning of the Guideline is "rough index".
So Guideline does not have the power to force the author.

Internet site should be evolved to a place where they can be more feel free
to participate and they can rest assured by the wisdom of the people.
There can not be the location of the quarrel.

Therefor We should be able to also reduce war and quarrel.

It's has the potential to eliminate the hassle of on the Internet.
In fact, there is not fair market on the Internet.
The Internet market is already occupied by Western capitalists.
And people all over the world have been forced to work for the benefit of the West.
They're forcing their rules and guidelines to people all over the world for that.
They continue to adversely penalties for Japanese people to top priority the Western economy.

I think longer Discogs is far from the idea that Kevin Lewandowski had.
It is quite long ago, when there has not yet been established Discogs.
I was selling so many type of records with a lot of description on eBay.
From the old days, I wrote finely things from the background for the record
and music in a long, long English description on all items that listed for
sale on eBay
until the musicians of their carrier a lot

It is no matter, even $5, even $100 I had to face the used record in the same stance.
I also dig lots rare records and showed them on the our music magazine.
After Sundazed and UK Rev-ora follow us. And I and our friend group released
many type of Guide books, Music Magazine, Reissue cds etc etc.
We made a big demand "Soft Rock / Now called Sunshine Pop".
It was spread quickly to all over the world.
Bob Irwin of Sundazed wanted me to head hunt.
UK Rev-ora continued to send me fan letters.
I am involved in many Japanese reissue CDs and The record guide books.
Even W
arner Brothers offered me for their Doo-wop special reissue CDs

And I wrote these informations and song list to cooperate with them.
I've been a creative work on many of the media related to the used records.
It was the creation of new values. I am the pioneer which subdivision of terminology

and categories on the sub culture market that you guys are using.

With the world order changing, we must respect each other and find profitable ways
to benefit each other. So We will teach foreigners who want to know Japanese culture
and record music what we know as widely as possible.
It is mutual understanding. By being aware of each other's cultural differences and
respecting each other, we can help each other.

 Japanese pop music background
Anyway Japanese sellers selling to international markets Japanese records are
Japanese products sold for Japanese people by Japanese companies.

The Japanese collectors have confirmed the history of Japanese products
that have grown while receiving the influence of postwar Western culture
from those records.
Especially in the United States there was a victory of the war
and the American economy was very good in the 1950s.

Until the influence of the worsening of the Vietnam War in the late 60's,
America was a rich country.Meanwhile, the United States has exported
rich American culture to Japan of the defeated country.
American music and movies, cars, foods, fashion etc etc.

The Japanese can not speak English. Of course we can not read English.
Most of the Japanese music market was dominated by Japanese music.
Japanese record market was 70% Japanese music, 20% American music,
and 10% European music.

The Japanese record I am listing Japanese rarities which was even
less production in American music
which was 20% of the Japanese market
at the time.

After World War II Japan pursued the United States under the influence
of American culture.
Even the Disco movement era of the 1970s
there was a difference of more than 10 years between Japan
and the US economy.
At last the Japanese economy caught up with
the American economy in the 80s.
This has the same situation in the German market.
Japan and Germany are defeated countries.
Their economy grew under
the influence from victorious countries.

Meanwhile, the purists of Japan and Germany respected the culture
of the defeated country on their domestic products.

Actually, Japan became an economic superpower now,
but after the war it was a very poor country.
Only some people could purchase
stereos and records with Japanese salary at the time.

They were high society influenced by fashion and lifestyle from
American dramas and music.

Many Japanese had the utmost to buy records of Japanese singers.
Of course, only some songs were chosen for Japanese single from
American billboard hit chart.
However, a few Japanese who were shocked
by rock 'n' roll were listening to American hit songs
from radio show through
FEN (Far East Network, Pre - American Forces Network).

First of all, the spread of television was prioritized in Japan rather than
the spread of stereo/record player.
The monthly salary of Japanese young people
who graduated from the then university was about $150.
They could work by buying
a car and they thinking that they could buy a TV if they work.

Japan must be over the age of 18 to acquire a driver 's license.
Japan has not used car market at that time.Well for them even if the car was
unattainable, they could have bought the TV if they try their best.
They wanted to watch the 1964 Tokyo Olympic Games on TV.

They could not purchase album records that cost $20 in such Japanese economic
conditions.
So single record became more popular than album.

Of course many of them bought single records of Japanese singer.

Interestingly, most of the singles of Pre-Beatles era in Japan did not use artist's photos.
Using their pictures is clearly helpful for promotional sales of their Japanese single records.
As you know, For Japanese listeners who can not understand English,
Japanese companies are printing lyrics and bilingual translation on records of
foreign artists.
If the pictures of an artist is printed on it, Japanese will feel close
to the artist.
But Japanese record companies did not use their pictures.

Probably the picture copy right requested by American companies were too expensive
and Japanese companies could not get profitable.

As a result, I think that Japanese companies wanted to release singles
that do not use artist's photos as much as possible.

Japan is a small island country.Japan's land is about a little bigger than California.
Japan has a different habit from the American market.
There is wholesale in the Japanese record market.
We can not stock records of major record companies unless they are through them.
American retail stores must be completely bought from record companies.
Japanese retail stores can be returned to wholesalers.
And wholesalers are negotiating strategically promotable records with record companies.
So that they are trying to eliminate the loss as much as possible.

Records where the return rate was high were discarded.
To distribute them as second - hand records, record companies gave
the cover a punch hole.
Considering the Japanese economy of the day
and the understanding of American music,
their Japanese press 45s would have been
about 200 copies when pre-Beatles era.
I guess so that maybe 50 to 100 copies
would have sold if they released initial press 200 copies.

If it is a billboard chart big hit, it's Japanese single will be 500 to 999 copies
with initial pressing.
In Japan, the tax rate rises above 1000 copies so most initial pressing
was less than 1000 copies.

Japan did not have media to introduce those good American music.
So most of the Japanese listeners could not listen to American music
until their cover song movement
came in Japan's late 50' s and early '60' s.
Only the people of rich life were listening to American music.

Japanese singers covering American rockabilly and pop songs and
released by the movement.
It is similar to French Ye Ye movement.

Do you know French pop Ye-Ye?
Strictly speaking, French Ye-Ye must be French girl pop singer covered
US and UK hit songs in the mid 60s.
They were distinguished for it was chanson with different musical styles
that were in France own cultural sphere.
Thereby are they made the movement. This is the music culture.
Demand for domestic music and imported music is not the same.

Because Japanese people can not speak English, American music fans
were minorities.
European music fans were fewer than American music fans.

As already mentioned, the R&R Rockabilly movement was in Japan in the late 50's.
It made American rock 'n' roll and pop cover songs by Japanese singers.
As the movement of the garage band promoted in the early 1960s in the states,
The Ventures made the electric guitar movement in Japan.
Japanese young people were playing exciting surf guitar.
Japanese television stations were broadcasting their guitar battle.

It was the cornerstone of Japanese Group Sounds (GS) movement.
It revitalized the Japanese record market all at once and the market expanded.
Even 美空ひばり Hibari Misora released "真夏な太陽" (Makkana Taiyou)
This is a beat song in GS era played by GS group The Blue Comets.
We call this song "ビート歌謡 Beat Kayou".
Hibari Misora is not an absolute enka singer. She was an entertainer.
She debuted as a singer of the popular song. She made her movie debut as a child
and sang jazz and standard songs. However, she has been taking lessons
from Masao Koga since childhood.Naturally, she knew well the postwar Enka style
invented by Masao Koga.Enka style was the most popular in Japan,
especially when television became popular in Japan.
To that end, both pop singers and writers have released crossover songs
that are closer to Enka.Hibari Misora is a famous icon for Enka,
but she really sang Kayoukyoku in the mid-60s.

After that, when the Beatles movement / British Invasion came to Japan,
the single using their photos became mainstream.

On June 30, 1966 the Beatles performed live performances in Japan.
That made a peak in sales of records of foreign artists in Japan
where the country can not understand English.

In fact, from those Japanese records we can know the efforts of
Japanese record companies and respect for American culture.
That should enrich Japanese listeners and make them happy.

和製ポップス (Wa-sei-pops) is a technical term for distinguishing
Japanese domestic pop music due to popularization of music from the West after the war.
Especially from the late 1950s to the early 1960s, cover songs of Western pop songs sung
by Japanese singers in Japan became popular.
It is like distinguishing music other than the German-speaking region by Schlager.
和製ポップス (Wa-sei-pops) is one of the history of 歌謡曲 (Kayoukyoku) as popular music.
However 和製ポップス (Wa-sei-pops) has nothing to do with J-pop.
歌謡曲 (Kayoukyoku) must be Japanese professional songwriting, composing and
Japanese singer singing. Most notably, however, after this movement,
professional Japanese writers began writing songs that quoted the pop and catchy phrases
of Western hit songs. Quoted also guitar riff. There are songs like quotations or rip-offs.
This is also noticeable in the structure of J-pop songs.
For example, モーニング娘 Morning Musume "Love Machine" is a rip-off of the phrase
from Jackson Sisters "I Believe In Miracles"..

和製ポップス (Wa-sei-pops) were popular at the time by young people.
Talents who later became Kayoukyoku singer also activated the movement.
Of particular note is 漣健児 Kenji Sazanami, who translated those Western music
with his own unique sense.
https://www.discogs.com/ja/artist/673137-Kenji-Sazanami

When there was the cover song movement of Western music in Japan
in the middle of 1960, there was the special market for flexi vinyls only.
This is also 和製ポップス (Wa-sei-pops),
However, these songs are not 歌謡曲(Kayoukyoku) because they are Western cover songs.
The definition of 歌謡(Kayoukyoku) is a song written by professional Japanese writers.
The early Japanese jazzmen plays world hit songs.
The normal circulation is not done by this record whether
they considered the trouble with major companies with copyright.
A product of an era when the portrait rights were not strictly controlled.
Monthly magazine with flexi vinyl discs intended to present
the world popular music and movies of that time to the Japanese.
It's a photo book in the style of magazine that
presents the fashion trends of the world.
These were published before the spread of the stereo record players.
The members of the popular music group in Japan in the early 1960s
were mostly jazz musicians because jazz was popular at the time.
Later, Japanese young musicians formed the electric guitar band
by The Ventures movement.
They played Western hit songs in their unique arrangement.
Trend magazine with flexi vinyls. Most were in this format.

Beatles, Rolling Stones, Elvis Presley etc etc
For example Asahi Sonorama
Japanese publisher. They had trademark rights of Sono-sheet (Flexi vinyl disc) and released.
On September 9, 1959, they founded 朝日ソノプレス社
(Asahi Sonopress Company / Asahi Sonopresse),
an affiliated company of 朝日新聞社 (The Asahi Shimbun Company).
They recorded tapes, music, etc. that recorded the interview,
various topics including news articles, fashionable movies and music
as Sono-sheet (Flexi vinyl disc), and issued magazine called
"月刊朝日ソノラマ" (Monthly Asahi Sonorama)
It was announced "Sound magazine" did. Likewise, they were also publishing magazines,

I know people who are not Japanese are difficult to subdivide
Japanese music categories.
Of course I corrected it for those
who use J-pop for Enka.
However I’m not asked the style for J-pop.

Rather I’m told them the start line of J-pop.

 J-pop
Please let me explain J-pop and this background. This is the most important.
J-pop is a term used to judge when it was released.J-pop is not a term for music style.
It must be a dance pop sung in Japanese with the latest recording technology
and the latest musical instrument for Dance tune. You didn’t know that?

They made a coined word that J-pop in order to multilateral popular the Japanese Pop.
But it is not a short version of the Japanese Pop.
Of course, J-pop is not short version of Jazz Pop.
"J" pointing to Japan from the mid 1980s became popular.
For example, the J League (Japanese Professional Football League),
JT (Japan Tobacco), JR (Japan Railways)
It was 1990 that the Japanese major record companies planned a new technical term
"J-pop" to change from 昭和歌謡 Showa Kayou (Kayoukyoku in Showa)

and it was around 1993 that the J-pop credit was packaged.
It was in 1993 that Tower records made section for J-pop and it became popular.
Do you know 昭和 Showa? Showa is name of the Japanese era.
Japanese Era name must change when the Emperor was died.
Showa is the era, which means Emperor Showa era.
At that time when the Vinyl Record changes to the CD,
Japanese Showa Emperor Hirohito died in 1989.
Thereby Japanese era became the Heisei from Showa.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sh%C5%8Dwa_period

What were you doing when Emperor Showa was pass away?
The Japanese people who committed suicide by pessimizing
the death of the Emperor were war experiences.
Samurai spirit is martyrdom dying for the deceased of the lord.

The expression of people is different before and after September 11 attacks.
They hesitate for expressing parodies and criticism of aggressive things increases.
The Japanese experienced it by the death of the Emperor Showa.
Emperor Showa died on January 7, 1989 and the Japanese market
refrained from selling.
It is not compulsion of the Japanese government
for suppression.
It was a Japanese national sentiment.

The collapse and construction of values through World War II,
the era of Japanese riots caused by the Japan-US Security Treaty.
Dynamic transition period occurred during those Emperor Showa era.
Japanese citizens began to revalidate the Showa era under mourning.
Naturally, discussion on right wing and left wing became active,
and Japanese market became short-term saturated state.
Six months passed since the whole Japan was mourning and being saddened.
In Japan, dance tunes gradually made the market active around the summer.

The Japanese major record companies depended on a famous radio program
J-wave where playing only Japanese dance music.

J-wave diffused a new technical term "J-pop". J-pop was a technical term
for spreading Japanese dance songs to the Asian market.

Showa era was over and the Japanese major record companies were
allowed to spread the new terminology to replace the Showa Kayou.
It’s called "J-pop" which a music genre after 1990.
They used to spread the jargon term J-pop
but it was not immediately packaged for their products.
However, as it was a counter culture greatly influenced by
the Japanese asset price bubble, the Japanese market made these dance tunes
called J-pop a symbol of the prosperity of the Japanese economy.

and it was around 1993 that the J-pop credit was packaged.
It was in 1993 that Japanese Tower Records made section for J-pop
and it became popular in Japanese market.

So the concept of J-pop was born after the summer of 1989 that
J-wave announced "J-pop" for spread immediately in the Asian market.
but in 1993 J-pop products began to spread for sale.
From 1990 to 1993 it was a period necessary for the notion of technical term
J-pop to settle in the Japanese market.

I inform you why there is no controversial in above sentence.
I seem so that you do not know Japanese commercial laws
and history of Japanese music products.

Japan has a different culture and history than the Western market.
the Japanese market has big wholesale companies.
星光堂 (Seikodo), WINT (日本レコード販売網 JARECS, Lilac trading)

The retailers must go through either wholesale company.
If the retailer does not pass the wholesale company,
the retail store can not purchase the record / CD released by
the major company. Japanese wholesaler has not sales division /
category for J-pop in 1989. Naturally Japanese major companies
did not even have a sales strategy for J-pop for retailers.
They did not have the technical term J-pop for that.

Of course, they can not sell discounted new items like the American market.
However, retailers can return records / CDs to major companies via wholesale companies.
The retailers will report their customers' reactions to the record companies via wholesalers.

And record companies analyzing sales by region tell sales strategies to wholesalers.
Neither wholesaler in 1989 has a sales division / category for J-pop.
Naturally Japanese major companies did not even have a sales strategy
for J-pop for retailers. In fact, my older sister was a member of Seikodo.

In 1989 she was deeply involved in the promotion of Japanese girl pop singers
and Dance-pop groups,
but they did not have the technical term J-pop for that.

Physically J-pop can not exist on products before 1990.
To put it briefly, since the summer of 1989, J-wave spread the terminology
of J-pop for dance music, However it shared the ambiguous outline of J-pop
in the consciousness of Japanese listeners, It was in 1990.
That meant a departure from the Showa era.It divided people of the Showa era
and young dance pop fans.
Those who rely on Showa's pop music
thereby want to incorporate it into J-pop,
but that is a mistake.
They are expanding J-pop by Western standards.

Even now they tend to have abused the J-pop to sell Japanese music products.
They even have the unfair business that took advantage in the J-pop movement.

It by music listeners who were with the wrong recognition for J-pop has increased.
And they have made confusion on the market with expand wrong interpretation.
The Japanese major record companies trying to put the old tracks on
the vinyl record
that became the roots of J-pop to the J-pop category.
It is because they want to sell them in addition the old catalog to
the revival movement.
You do not understand it and you were confused.

I can teach the simple criteria to you.
J-pop cannot exist on original time of the vinyl record release before 1990.
J-pop does not exist on the vinyl record and tracks of vinyl record era.

Children of the US military stationed in Japan spent the youth in Japanat that time.
There are many enthusiastic fans of Japanese synth-pop in the states,

but they tend to confuse J-pop.
They trying to rewrite Japanese music with Western standards

歌謡 Kayou is short version of 歌謡曲 Kayoukyoku.
Kayoukyoku is the generic name of Japanese popular music
that was popular in the Showa era.

The 1964 Tokyo Olympics saw more Showa songs sung
by the lyrics of Tokyo Hymn for some time ago.
But then Showa Kayou became lyrics to sing sorrow.
It is like "Saudade" by the cultural revolution of Brazil.

Even Enka had a movement of this dark lyric at that time as well.
It was similar to the criticism of capitalism as in the lyrics of
Jewish American singers such as Bob Dylan and PF Sloan,
but in particular during the Japanese student movement period (late 1960's)
due to the Japan-US Security Treaty and the Vietnam War,
Showa Kayou dark lyrics became popular in Showa songs.
Showa Kayou is characterized by having lyrics rooted in Japanese life.
Values rooted in the bottom of life of agricultural indigenous peoples.
From the lyrics of 昭和歌謡 Showa Kayou you can see
the composition of nomadic tribe (Nomad / Hunter-gatherer : continental country
which forces their values)
vs agricultural indigenous peoples
(Oriental island country refusing it).

鶴田浩二 Koji Tsuruta's "傷だらけの人生"
藤圭子
Keiko Fuji's "
圭子の夢は夜ひらく"

さくらと一郎 Sakura To Ichirou "昭和枯れすすき" (Dead pampass grass in Showa)
The lyrics that sang Japanese feelings suffering from being unable to
accept the western value as in.

J-pop is modern dance music that does not have lyrics criticizing such Western value.
To disseminate the technical term J-pop,
that meant a departure from the Showa era.

I added a tag of "Kayukyoku" to Discogs by my suggestion.
That is to correct the user misusing J-pop.
English Wikipedia is not accurate. This is a rough description.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kay%C5%8Dkyoku

The J-pop is Genre not present on the vinyl record.
It is basically the generic name of the Japanese dance pop since 1990
It is a J-pop, is a sound using the latest instruments and
the latest recording equipment.
Even if the stretch since the epidemic
and music until around 1989
, It will be the acceptable range of J-pop.
Basically the term J-pop may only be used strictly for Japanese pop music
created after Showa era.
But they announced "J-pop" in 1990.

We should divide the J-pop clearly from the songs that were released
in the previous 1989 years.
We are removing J-pop on vinyl records
pre 1990 and CD reissue and
compilation CD which tracks from pre 1990.

We are working for the correct category of J-pop.
Do you select Emo category for Elvis Presley's ballad song
of the era did not have the professional term Emo? LOL

We are radio program producers and we have advise their mistake
to a lot of people for the spread of the J-pop
.
Even Japanese young people are extending J-pop without knowing
the background of the technical term J-pop.
That is because they were living with J-pop,
but they captured the growth process of the Japanese music market
only in their ambiguous atmosphere.
They make a big misunderstanding that J-pop was spontaneously born
and gradually incorporated various elements into shape.
The public image of the original musicians has been persecuted by their thoughts
that they want to attract the brand called J-pop.

Then the younger generation of people that have never heard of
Japanese Showa Kayou
, Popular song-based J-pop to expand interpretation,
Shibuya-kei J-pop, Folk-based J-pop, Rock J-pop etc

Although we show the spread and so on, basically J-pop is the Japanese dance pop
since 1990 there is no doubt.
So on the format of the previous vinyl record 1990.
J-pop is not there.

After that J-pop style was atomized.
Please read this Japanese Wikipedia if you can read Japanese.
Even they periodically rewrite this definition for the profit desire
from the huge market called J-pop.This description is became
the advertisement of Japanese major record companies.

It is because they want to sell them in addition the old catalog
to the revival movement.

https://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/J-POP

English version of Wikipedia is misunderstood,
The foreign people also misunderstood the J-pop by it.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/J-pop

It became the cause of people's misunderstanding.
Around 2005, eBay set the J-pop / Enka in the sub-genre
for the Japanese music fans.
Especially since the Kill Bill made Showa Kayou fans,
They set J-pop / Enka sub-genre under the “Pop”category.
Thereby leaving with a misunderstanding like you guys.
I and my friend's group made Japanese musical terminology
and popularized them for make big demand.
Such a movement influenced the subculture market all over the world.
Quentin Tarantino's movie "Kill Bill" is one of them.

I belong to a radio station that decided J-pop and I am in charge
of the oldies radio program is an educational program.
Most of hip musicians and club DJ.s in Japan are regular customers of my store.

I have been involved in classifying music genres for many years.
You tend to capture the overview of J-pop like feeling music.
Especially in the states, there are many enthusiastic Japanese music fans,
especially enthusiastic fans of 80s Japanese pop do not understand
the history of the development of the Japanese music industry.

Regarding 渋谷系 J-pop / Shibuya-kei J-pop.
I and my store were the most famous icons for Shibuya-kei.
Shibuya-kei refers to music and musicians influenced by Soft Rock

that we introduced. The Flipper's Guitar, Pizzicato Five etc
Yasuharu Konishi, leader of Pizzicato Five, was a regular customer of my store.
According to Konishi of Pizzicato Five's reminiscence,
a member Keitaro Takanami (AKA K-taro Takanami) said
when they were interviewed by magazines around the summer of 1991
"Pizzicato Five, Original Love, Flipper's Guitar Like a band is

now called the Shibuya-kei, Isn't it?"
This was the moment they recognized the term Shibuya-kei.

"Shibuya-kei" is a technical term made by our used record dealers.
It is our music magazine called "Vanda"and I have disseminated
the technical term even "Soft Rock".
It excavated wonderful sound like Free Design, Curt Boettcher etc etc.
Correspondingly, pop group fans who sings Unison are linked to
Japanese 70s new music. And they expanded "Shibuya-kei".

But the term "Shibuya-kei" is basically what we made.
Shibuya-kei J-pop musicians often buy records from me.
Naturally Shibuya-kei J-pop fans had deified my store.
Indeed idol units produced by Yasushi Akimoto like AKB 48
and Keyakizaka 46 are singing by unison.
This is because "Shibuya-kei" is rooted. We made such a movement.

Another Shibuya-kei’s icon who was my best friend Alzo Fronte.

When I was interviewing Alzo, He suddenly died of a heart attack.
At that time he had offered to me for his manager.....
The Soft rock movement we created has changed to Sunshine pop
and spread around the world.

"三宅裕司のいかすバンド天国"(February 11, 1989 - December 29, 1990)
This TV program was due to the audition of the amateur bands.
This made a band boom, They were one of the factors that spread J-pop.
but the bands were not a record debut era. They made CD debut.
You can ask JASRAC how much record was released in Japan in 1989.
Also you can ask to the Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ),
Japan Record Commerce Association.
I often ask them for our oldies radio programs, Because they are familiar
with the number of records and sales results produced in Japan.

Again, even now they tend to have abused the J-pop to sell Japanese music products.
They even have the unfair business that took advantage in the J-pop movement.

It by music listeners who were with the wrong recognition for J-pop has increased.
And they have made confusion on the market with expand wrong interpretation.
The Japanese major record companies trying to put the old tracks on the vinyl record
that became the roots of J-pop to the J-pop category.
It is because they want to sell them in addition the old catalog to the revival movement.

You do not understand it and you were confused. So You have expanded the J-pop.
Therefore J-pop cannot exist on original time of the vinyl record release before 1990.
Again, J-pop does not exist on the vinyl record and tracks of vinyl record era.
Hope you understand it and Please stop the wrong categorization for J-pop.

If you want to write to the dictionary site, date base site.
You should at least learn Japanese and Japanese culture if you want to write
the release history of major Japanese companies.
Even Japanese writers are studying English and exotic culture to write on Web.
Because internet is involved in the world market.

It is assumed that the user understands English.
Likewise, if the author writes a Japanese record,
he assumes that he understands Japanese.

If not, foreign authors will continue to write a description
that will make big laugh when the Japanese read it.
Realistically it already makes burst laugh of the Japanese users.
As a result, Especially Discogs loses its trust as a dictionary or date base.
